New trailer for Ron Howards’ ‘In the Heart of the Sea’

In the Heart of the Sea is based on a book, that’s based on a real event, that inspired an iconic literary creation. Keeping up? The title comes from Nathan Philbrick’s best-selling book, which highlights the real-life aftermath of the sinking of the Essex, a whaling ship, in 1820, after an attack by a sperm whale. The attack inspired Herman Melville, who turned the story into Moby Dick.

The film sees director Ron Howard reunite with his Rush star Chris Hemsworth, who stars as the veteran first mate of the doomed ship. Starring alongside him as the inexperienced captain is Benjamin Walker who struggles to manage his crew through the multiple forms of crisis they face at sea.

The trailer showcases some good-looking visuals, as well as focusing on the desperate plight of the men as they try to survive. In the Heart of the Sea also stars Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Tom Holland, and Brendan Gleeson, and is released in cinemas on 13th March.
