New Pacific Rim TV Spot & Featurette Brings The Jaegers To Life

Just less in 5 weeks time the inner 11 year old will be running amok at your local cinema as giant robots square off against giant monsters in Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim. After Last week’s look at the Jaeger’s piloting in ‘Drift Space’ we now have a new featurette ‘Oversized Robot Set’ which has a look at the scale of the production.

Pacific Rim as described by Del Toro ‘Is a beautiful poem to giant monsters’, his love letter to Godzilla movies, this featurette shows the film is a 11/12 year old  fantasy dream come true. This video lets us go inside a Jaeger and tells us how Guillermo Del Toro brought the Jaegers (the big robots) to life and what the pilots (the two people that drive the robots) had to go through. Del Toro describes the machinery the actors had to use as ‘Torture devices’ hopefully its pain worth been subjected too will be worth it!

So so far alot of the footage from Pacific Rim has focused on the star attractions the Jaegers and the Kaiju’s and the beatdown they will unleash on each other, the film’s latest TV Spot is all on the human characters. It may only be 30  plus seconds but it’s focus is dialogue driven especially between Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba‘s character the later delivering something a little motivational. Our motivation is on the important release date of Pacific Rim next month hopefully it’s your too!

starring Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Burn Gorman and Rinko Kikuchi is Pacific Rim is released in UK, Irish and U.S cinemas nationwide on 12^th July 2013.

Synopsis:

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes – a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) – who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
