After waiting a long time for something new from Sam Raimi we got Drag Me To Hell but that’s 3 years ago and next March the man who made his name in the horror genreย  has teamed up with Walt Disney with Oz:The Great & Powerful. Tonight Disney have sent us over a brand new piece of fantastic artwork from the film, a brand new posterย  which teases us with the wicked witch of the West. As it’s been a long time since we last had something from this film, this is the origins of L. Frank Baumโ€™s beloved character, from the classicย  the Wizard of Oz. So the question is, is this Rachel Weiszโ€™ Evanora or Mila Kunisโ€™ Theodora? We’ll go for Rachel Weisz!

James Franco plays Oscar Diggs a small time circus magician with poor ethics who eventually gets whisked away to OZ eventually becoming the iconic wizard who sends Dorothy back to Kanas with the aide of the balloon that got him to the mythical land. Michelle Williams playing Glinda the good witch as this poster is part of a triptych the 2 other parts we’ll assume are her sisters Evanora and Theodora.

Are we excited? Off course we are as we’re off to see the wizard or how Diggs became the wonderful wizard of oz! Oz:The Great&Powerful also stars Zach Braff, Abgail Spencer and Joey King with the film arriving in UK&Ireland 8th March 2013. If we’re to go with what we saw in the film’s trailer we have a mighty fine film to look out for so follow the yellow brick road leading to your local cinema!

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks heโ€™s hit the jackpotโ€”fame and fortune are his for the takingโ€”that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyoneโ€™s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuityโ€”and even a bit of wizardryโ€”Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizardโ€”and just maybe into a better man as well.
