You can’t hide from the fact the festive season is upon us. For cinephiles what will your choice of film on 20th December? Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker or Cats? Universal Pictures will be hoping it will be the big screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s long running musical. Today they have finally released a second UK Trailer, but will you go to the cinema and dance? or simply cringe?
The first Trailer dropped to some truly negative responses , especially on the CGI. It was set around one song and simply looked like cats pretending to be humans. Bad CGI, but can this truly be based on one of the greatest musicals ever?
If you can see past the the terrifying hybrid characters, this trailer provides a little more of the storyline.
The Summer is over, has Universal Pictures done a Sonic The Hedgehog on their prized film? No. If anything it looks like the reject bin from Clive Barker’s Nightbreed film. When you have James Corden looking like a feline version of The Penguin from Batman and Dame Judi Dench looking like extra from Aphex Twin, it’s not good.
We can’t deny the original musical’s quality, it’s legendary. We can go on about the negativity of this trailer forever, it’s a shame. Especially with Tom Hooper being no stranger to musical film adaptations. Cats looks like it will be the film version of Brussels Sprouts; Many people love them, many more loathe them….

Cats stars James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and Francesca Hayward.
Cats hopes to be that ‘Purr-fect’ Christmas film when it’s released in cinemas from 20th December.
