Next month we will once again be covering Fantasia Festival. 2020 may have been a virtual celebration of genre films, it was the year Maria Bissell’s indie feature debut How To Deter A Robber premiered. Going by the critics and fan reactions it was one of the festival favourites, next month it arrives in the UK.

The film takes us to a barren Wisconsin town that sees Two teenagers get more than they bargained for when they come face-to-face with burglars on a crime spree.
The film maybe purely factious, people will resonate with the crazy rollercoaster times of festive season. Throw in a lose cannon of inept burglars, the sh*t will hit the fan!
Home Alone meets Fargo. In this darkly twisted thriller, a series of unfortunate coincidences leave recent high school graduate Madison, and her boyfriend Jimmy face-to-face with the burglars who are ransacking their neighbourhood. As the two amateur detectives line up booby traps, they soon realise it’s going to take more than some well-placed paint cans to stop them.
The film stars Vanessa Marano, Benjamin Papac, Abbie Cobb, Sonny Valicenti, Gabrielle Carteris, and Chris Mulkey.
How To Deter A Robber will arrive in the UK and Ireland digitally from 2nd August.
