We all want to evolve in some way, but last years brilliant Ex_Machina hasn’t learned us anything hopefully Luke Scott‘s Morgan might open our eyes that artificial life can be evil.In the first UK Teaser trailer for the debut feature for Ridley Scott‘s (he is producing for him)son Luke, it’s a ย promo that teases a similar premise as Alex Garland’s film but what is Morgan?

When your son of Ridley the man who brought Alien, Blade Runner ย and Last year’s The Martian to name a few he has big shoes to step into, is Morgan the start of his Legacy? Whatever you do…”Don’t Let it Out!”.

Morgan ย stars Kate Mara as a corporate troubleshooter who is sent to a remote top-secret location , where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent โ€œhuman,โ€ who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

The so called experts have always said the machine or artificial Intelligence when they are created they will become more intelligent, strong enough to surpass there human creators. This film once again plays on the tropes of Humans playing as gods of creation, how far should we go? The trailer doesn’t give much away who or what Morgan is, and the importance to humans. This film does have a sense of Frankenstein, even Vicenzo Natali’s Splice, Metropolis but the burning question is, what’s Morgan‘s purpose? The Witch‘s Anya Taylor-Joy is playing the titular character she told EW โ€œHer capacity for intelligence is far greater than the average human beingโ€ฆ But without giving too much away, we can develop a creature which has all of these physical attributes, but what about the emotion and what it means to be a human? That is something that cannot be implanted, it has to be learned.โ€

One character is the trailer says โ€œexceeds our wildest expectations,โ€ are we looking at a new type of weapon? Looking at the poster below one of her sleeves has blood from an ‘accident’ or something less or more sinister?

Morgan doesn’t have an exact UK release date apart from ‘Late 2016’, it’s September for USA so don’t be surprised if we are similar date. The film stars Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Paul Giamatti.
