The new film from V for Vendetta director James McTeigue, Survivor, stars Milla Jovovich on the run from Pierce Brosnan. McTeigue, a frequent collaborator with the Wachowskis, has set the action in a London that, judging from the new trailer, is largely populated by Americans.
“Survivor” is a thriller about a State Department employee (Jovovich) newly posted to the American embassy in London, where she is charged with stopping terrorists from getting into the U.S. And that puts her in the line of fire: targeted for death, framed for crimes she didn’t commit, discredited and on the run. Now she must find a way to clear her name and stop a large-scale terrorist attack set for New Year’s Eve in New York’s Times Square.
Although Emma Thompson is still reported as being a part of the film, there is no footage of her in the trailer, and no mention of her on the poster, meaning that perhaps her role is only a small one. Still, it seems strange not to include the name of an Oscar-winning actress in promotional material for a film.
Survivor also stars Dylan McDermott, Angela Basset, James D’Arcy, and Frances De La Tour, and is released in UK cinemas on 5th June.
