Michael Bay Set To Return To Transformers 4? Looking Like It!

Surprise Surprise! No it’s not the return of Cilla Black, but news of that Michael Bay set to return to Transformers 4! It didn’t take long for this to surface but it looks like the baymeister is in final negotiations to return to the franchise according to Vulture but only after he makes his ‘low budget’ film Pain And Gain which this week could have Mark Whalberg and Dwayne Johnson starring in it.

Michael Bay has been keen to create the revenge thriller since it went into print back in 1999, a story of  based on a three-part New Times story about the infamous ‘Sun Gyn Gang’ of Miami bodybuilders who kidnap a Florida businessman they torture, rob left for dead. The businessman hires a private detective to hunt them all down and Vulture say letting  Bay create this film is the leverage  Paramount need in getting their man back onboard, “Without Pain, thereโ€™s no tit for tat,” a insider told Vulture Thatโ€™s Paramountโ€™s leverage.” However another insider has stated โ€œdoes not have a closed dealโ€ with the studio โ€œis not far from closingโ€ so possibly we could here some solid details as early as next week!

The filming of Bay’s ‘ tiny movie’  is expected to start around spring time 2012 which would mean Transformers 4 will start around winter 2012 if the deal is done. The likelihood of the deal happening got a massive boost the past few days when executive producer Steven Spielberg said he was keen to do more Transformers with his buddy Bay  which will be great news for the films fanbase  As for the budget it’s scary to think the money which Bay will have at his disposal especially as this franchise is part of billion dollar club, a cash cow for Paramount not just on the film front but merchandise too.

At this stage nothing much is known on Transformers 4 but it wont be a prequel but will be delving deep into the origins of the older characters and the folklore behind the bots. Don’t expect to see Sam Whitwicky  aka Shia LaBeouf back as he’s made it clear he wants to develop his acting abilities in more ‘challenging ways’ however nothing is saying the character of Sam wont be back in some shape of form.
