Merry Christmas Wonder Woman 1984 Film Release Date Changed Again!

When will it ever end? Just as we slowly take small steps towards some sort of normality, we seem to be going over a bump on the road. Cinemas maybe opened but over in the U.S.A it’s even slower and it’s no surprise that now we’re learning that Wonder Woman 1984 release date is changing again. To Christmas!

The recent release of Tenet may have not had the major impact Warner Bros was expecting , their next tentpole film now getting a Christmas Day release. They also feel there is room for two tentpole films with their other big release Dune releasing a week earlier on 18th December. Their decision seems to based on how Jumanji: The Next Level fared last Christmas against Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

Off course here in the UK we have a lot more cinemas now opened, over in the USA 30% of the market including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco still closed. It’s only logical as Stateside is Hollywood’s main box office market, so moving the date is expected.  It’s a decision they  have been mulling over for a while and with those remaining cinemas set to open in October, Wonder Woman 1984 release would clash with Tenet.

A statement was released about the news and director Patty Jenkins commented “First and foremost let me say how much Gal and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for ‘WW84’ couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie. Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer. With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!

In Wonder Woman 1984, we fast forward to the 1980’s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah. As previously announced, the film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor.

We’ve been a bit more fortunate than USA as we’ve had cinemas opened since June. With a few smaller releases and a host of recent and classic films returning to the big screens. With the Pandemic infections going up and down, many people still don’t feel safe to return despite the best efforts of many.

As for the UK release date, there is no word if we will have 25th December release as well. Traditionally we don’t open on Christmas day, so there is a chance UK and Irish release date might be 26th December.
