Meet ‘L’ In Netflix Death Note Poster

Check! Checkmate

Take a look at the new character art poster of “L” from the Netflix original film Death Note. In the ultimate chess match between “Light” and darkness, L is the prodigy detective behind the investigation of the serial killer known as ‘Kira.’

Lakeith Stanfield stars as the mysterious detective, an iconic character to the graphic novels and anime versions.Due to the back story of this character, it’s hard to say what we could expect from this ‘Western version’ of the popular novel. A lot of the discussion will hark back to the ‘whitening’ controversy that’s plagued many movies especially Ghost In The Shell. Netflix has tried its best to answer but as we know no matter how much they answer naysayers will always be lining up to rip it apart, will it include fans of the novels too?

Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realising it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.

After premiering at this year’s Horror Channel Frightfest in London next month Death Note will be released exclusively on Netflix including UK & Ireland from 25th August.
