Matt Reeves In Line To Direct 3rd Planet Of The Apes Sequel?

The Dawn Of The Planet of The Apes will certainly be on many cinephiles and critics most anticipated film lists for 2014 and before any previews of the film have been shown 20th Century Fox Pictures are already looking forward . It seems the film studio are that pleased with what director Matt Reeves has created they are already got the director lined up to direct the 3rd untitled film in the franchise.
Reeves was a last minute replacement for Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt who left due to creative differences . Recently according to Deadline, Fox held some test screenings and the feedback was very positive which confirmed Reeves will direct the next film too. It seems also that Mark Bomback who co-wrote the Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes with Matt Reeves will return to co-write the new script and with the new film in the editing suite Fox will be keen to get things going sooner rather than later.
Set 15 years after the first film Dawn of The Planet Of The Apes , the last remaining humans survivors from the deadly virus whose existence is threatens the genetically evolved apes led by Caesar (Andy Serkis).
The first trailer may have not revealed much in footage it was still a very promising tease possibly taking the franchise in a more darker grittier feel. Since Cloverfield in 2008 Reeves has been touted as one of the upcoming film directors to watch out for and the past few years has been connected to some big meaty projects such as Endeavor, the reworking of the short story ‘They Live’ was based on Eight O’Clock in the Morning. If this news is true it seems his foreseeable future will be with our soon to be simian masters.
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes will arrive in UK on 17th July 2014.
