Danny Rand is coming home. Next month Netflix release Marvel’s Iron Fist the last of The Defenders to get their TV Series. Today we get a look at the latest Trailer which Danny is returning home to New York for the first in 15 years, to reclaim his life.
The final piece of The Defenders, Marvel’s Netflix ‘Supergroup’, we meet Billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as he returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
This is the official first trailer that teases Danny’s journey to take back his father company, but is this Marvel’s very own Batman? Possible as Danny’s father is killed and he seeks vengeance with Bruce Wayne it’s his parents. Both billionaires living in New York/Gotham, both Martial Arts trained, but in the history of both characters, similarities stop here.
The trailer does tease those powers, the powers Rand maintained in the company of the mystical monks of K’un-Lun, a place that’s like a place similar to where Doctor Strange trained. The one problem that some folks may not like is the origin story is stuck in a time warp, a 1970’s hero with a ‘white saviour’. A controversy that’s caused havoc at last year’s Oscars and plagued Ghost In The Shell, Great Wall both with lead white actors in a story which could be lead by an Asian actor.
Hell’s Kitchen is once again the destination of this comic book series, with Rosario Dawson‘s character the binding gel (like Samuel L Jackson in MCU movies) connecting all the other Marvel Netflix Originals. Setting up The Defenders TV Show bringing Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones together. I do hope Iron Fist will deliver the goods as personally only Daredevil has succeeded consistently.
Netflix also sent us a few new images that show off some familiar faces.
Iron Fist will be 13 episode series which is set to launch globally on 17th March.
