In Lord of The Rings they had Aragon as king,The Knights Of The Round Table had King Arthur, Music had Elvis Pressley but in Kong: Skull Island the true king has returned. King Kong! In the wee small hours of today Warner Bros, unleashed the beast and the long awaited new UK trailer as the monarch of the jungle or in this case Skull Island has risen. As you’ll see from the new trailer Man is not king, All hail the king!
Away back in the summer, we got our first glimpse of the movie thanks to a San Diego Comic-Con trailer and excitement levels rose to monstrous levels. Now we have a second or official first cinematic trailer (however way you look at it) our excitement is rising to Godzilla type levels! But as we know, the so-called king of monsters Godzilla and King Kong will eventually meet.
Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
From the previous trailer and this one we can see a lot of influences with the original 1933 King Kong movie one of them. There seems to be a 1970s setting  and inspiration from war movies and one particular Apocalypse Now, which you can see further from the awesome posters below. We also get a first proper look at the King himself Kong (see above) and we also see a further connection to Gareth Edwards Godzilla. With John C Reilly‘s character a former military who describe’s Skull Islands creatures as ‘Skull Crawlers’. Or MUTOs or Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms which was used in that movie which could set up the future movie.
The tone in this trailer comes across more fun but also keeps intact this is clearly a creature feature adventure too. Vogt-Roberts did say his Kings Of Summer was inspired a lot by Bad Boys 2 and this movie does feel it has similar tone on the humour front especially.
