Comic Con Unleashes The Beast With First Kong: Skull Island Trailer

Kong Skull Island - John Goodman

The promotion train at Warner Bros. is working overdrive today at Comic Con  in San Diego and already we’ve a couple promos (more to come) and now they have unleashed the beast.Kong: Skull Island has it’s first (UK) Trailer stomping online , but beware it’s Awaken the King, check it out…

It’s no surprise this is another film catalogued under ‘re-boot’ or re-imaging’ but since Merian C.Cooper 1933 King Kong classic we’ve never had a version that match the momentum or success. After Gareth Edwards‘ reboot of Godzilla in 2014, it’s given filmmakers a platform that films  can have mammoth scope, scale  and this King Kong is one Kong we haven’t seen before.

Like comic book movies, it’s hoped those creature features can also  cross too and there’s plans that Godzilla will come face to face with King Kong. If your a avid fan of the old Toho Godzilla films you’ll know the pair have already met and it’s hoped a Hollywood version will be in the works too for around 2019-2020. Which mean the new King Kong will be behemoth of size around 100 feet tall making him an equal pairing with the king of monsters. When we watch the new trailer you get a sense of tone similar to Michael Douglas Heart Of Darkness. Exciting stuff or just another same old same rehashed? For the trailers we’ve so far tonight 2017 blockbuster season looks fun!

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Kong: Skull Island is directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly.

Kong: Skull Island arrives in UK&Ireland on 10th March 2017.
