Love Has No Limits In Submergence UK Trailer Starring James McAvoy

submergence (2018)

It’s not every day you get a chance to say ‘The new film from Wim Wenders’. This spring we will get that chance when Submergence is released. Starring James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander lovers in a dream state love, it’s also one they must fight for, literally.

Today Lionsgate Films has sent us the UK Trailer in which a British Service Agent and a Bio-mathematician fall madly in love. After meeting each other at a luxury resort they become divide by their jobs. Leading to isolation, can their love survive? Memories keep them fighting for every little hope they will meet once again…

Wenders is a master when it comes to creating a wonderful narrative (Wings Of Desire, Paris, Texas) driven movies. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a truly great Wim Wenders movie. Could this be the one or is his back catalogue keeping is going during these ‘dark days’?

Submergence is a love story that takes us into the extremely different worlds of our two protagonists, Danielle Flinders (Alicia Vikander) and James More (James McAvoy). They meet by chance in a remote hotel in Normandy where they both prepare for a dangerous mission. They fall in love almost against their will, but soon recognize in each other the love of their lives. When they have to separate, we find out that James works for the British Secret Service. He’s involved in a mission in Somalia to track down a source for suicide bombers infiltrating Europe. Danielle ‘Danny’ Flinders is a bio-mathematician working on a deep sea diving project to support her theory about the origin of life on our planet. Soon, they are worlds apart. James is taken hostage by Jihadist fighters and has no way of contacting Danny, and she has to go down to the bottom of the ocean in her submersible, not even knowing if James is still alive…

Submergence is set for an 18th May UK and Irish Cinema release. However, the movie will play next month’s Glasgow Film Festival on 23rd and 22nd February [book tickets]. The movie also stars Alexander Siddig.
