Listen To The Chronicle Episode 63 – Evil Dead Burn & Moana

A woman is a deadite in Evil Dead Burn

We found you!” Welcome back, fellow Chroniclers!

The Chronicle Film Podcast rises from the ashes for another packed episode! In Episode 63, Paul, Thea and Nick dive into two very different cinematic experiences: the terrifying Evil Dead Burn and Disney’s highly anticipated live-action Moana.

Will the Deadites ignite the box office, or will Evil Dead Burn go up in smoke? And can Disney recapture the magic of one of its most beloved modern animated classics, or is Moana simply another live-action remake that offers little beyond nostalgia?

We kick things off with Evil Dead Burn, the sixth film in Sam Raimis legendary Evil Dead franchise and the third installment in the rebooted timeline. Directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček (Infested), the film follows Alice (Souheila Yacoub), who is struggling with the recent loss of her husband. Seeking comfort with her in-laws after the funeral, she soon discovers that every family has its own demons… and some are far more terrifying than others.

Then it’s time to sail across the Pacific as we review Disney’s live-action Moana, finally arriving in UK and Irish cinemas. Dwayne Johnson returns as the larger-than-life demigod Maui, making him one of the few returning cast members from the original animated classic. But does this new adaptation bring fresh ideas to the voyage, or is it another unnecessary Disney remake designed to cash in on a beloved film?

Join us as we discuss the performances, direction, visual effects, storytelling, scares, songs, and whether these latest releases deserve a place on your watchlist.
