The wonderful things about film festivals we get a taster of the big films we can expect to our way and Ben Affleck’s Argo is one of those films and today we have the first UK poster. After it’s screening last week in Toronto Affleck’s 3rd directorial further prove his talents lie more in directing as the the buzz from the festival has been fantastic, it’s been that good many critics are calling it the frontrunner for the Oscars.

When you look at the overall design of the poster it reminds you of the Syriana posters starring George Clooney who happens to be Argo’s co-producers.But when you look at the source and location of the films Middle Eastern politics it’s no surprising there similar in style.

Based on true events, Warner Bros. Picturesโ€™ and GK Filmsโ€™ dramatic thriller โ€œArgoโ€ chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisisโ€”the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.

Academy Awardยฎ winner Ben Affleckย  directs and stars in the film, which is being produced by Academy Awardยฎ winner George Clooney , Oscarยฎ nominee Grant Heslovย  and Affleck.

On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA โ€œexfiltrationโ€ specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

โ€œArgoโ€ also stars Oscarยฎ winner Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Kerry Bishรฉ, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, and Taylor Schilling. Argo will be making it’s UK/European premier at next month’s 56th BFI London Film Festival before making its UK theatrical release on November 7th..
