Kevin Feige Addresses Snubbed ‘Blade’, Adam Driver And More
Following the release of the hotly anticipated trailer for Avengers: Doomsdayย on Monday, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has come out of media hibernation to discuss the Studio’s upcoming projects. Speaking with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feige addressed various rumours that have been circulating recently. Beginning with the rumour that Avengers: Secret Wars will be split into two parts, Feige debunked this, simply stating: โNot in this world.โ
It’s also been speculated that Secret Wars will herald an MCU reboot. Feige denied this too, commenting, โI look to the comics like I always do, in terms of our storytelling. After both the โSecret Wars,โ but particularly the [Jonathan] Hickman โSecret Warsโ from 10 years ago, thereโs a nice roadmap to where we can go.โ

More recently, rumours have swirled aroundย Adam Driver playing either Magneto or Mr Sinister in the X-Menย films. Driver has been approached for multiple MCU films and has always passed on them to the point that it has become a โtraditionโ.
Feige remarked: โItโs no secret weโd like to [work with him], but itโs a tradition to zoom with him and pass. Thatโs a long-lived tradition”. Despite this, it seems there are no hard feelings, with Feige commenting:ย “He couldnโt be any more cordial. Heโs usually upfront about how heโs feeling.โ
Finally, Feige was asked about the delayed reboot of Blade starring Mahershala Ali. Casting for the Blade role was announced in 2019, but the project has seen multiple creative setbacks since. Feige confessed to feeling like a “gigantic loser and failure” for these setbacks. However, Ali has remained optimistic about the project. At the June 2025 New York premiere of his film Jurassic World Rebirth, he told Variety: โCall Marvel…I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready.“
Avengers: Doomsday is set for cinematic release on December 18th, with Avengers: Secret Wars shooting later this year ahead of a December 17th 2027 release.
