Morten Tyldum‘s (The Imiation Game) upcoming pre-Christmas sci-fi treat echoes inspiration from many well loved films from Interstellar, Gravity, even Romeo And Juliet. Likeable leading actors will get bums on seats will it be oozing critical praise from the critcs and love from cinephiles?

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet. The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.

Pardon the expression Passengers is a whole different world for Tyldum a stark contrast from his last movie however we love Headhunters and have faith will deliver. We love the fact Michael Sheen is an android the ‘listening ear’ android who might be as ‘malfunctioned’ as the spaceship. Whilst we love what we’ve seen we can’t think that the trailer revealed too much? The film is based on a 2007 Blacklist script from highly regarded John Spaihts (Prometheus, Doctor Strange) hopefully has written in a few twists. A few twists that ask why where Lawrence and Pratt awoken early? Is it a metaphor for something else?What parts and who are the other cast?

Passengers will be released in UK&Ireland on 21st December with Michael Sheen, Andy Garcia, Laurence Fishburne also starring.
