Katherine Waterston and Andrew Garfield To Star In Paul Greengrass Next Film

Paul Greengrass, known for his work on the Bourne films, is currently in the process of sorting out his next high-profile project, with sources telling Deadline that both Katherine Waterston and Andrew Garfield are joining the untitled pic.

Earlier in the year, Deadline reported that the film will take place during the Peasants’ Revolt, a major uprising that took place across large parts of England in 1381 in response to socio-economic and political tensions and high taxation. Garfield will play a farmer who becomes the leader of the revolt, and it has been speculated that the character could be based on the legendary Wat Tyler, who led the uprising before being killed by forces loyal to King Richard, though this is currently unconfirmed.

Greengrass is going to direct the film with Jason Blum producing through Blumhouse, alongside Greg Goodman, Joanna Kaye, and Greengrass. Lars Sylvest will also produce through Thank You Pictures, and Joe Neurauter will produce through Supernix. Production is set to start this fall.

Focus Features has been brought on board to distribute the film. They are predicted to have a busy slate in the last third of 2025 with Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, as well as the Chloé Zhao pic Hamnet starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, due to be released.
