Karen Gillian’s The Party’s Just Beginning Will Be ‘Partying’ December
The Party’s Just Beginning is a darkly humorous and moving coming-of-age story from debut director Karen Gillan (Jumanji, Doctor Who, Avengers: Endgame).
The world is coming a more acceptable place to admit you have Mental Health issues. Not completely Ok, we still have a long way to go, and film is a perfect way to highlight these issues. The film made it’s world premiere at Glasgow Film Festival to some strong reviews.
The film has now got an official UK cinematic release date. Today Blue Flinch Films have released the UK Trailer…
In the bleak Scottish winter, witty and sarcastic Liusaidh (Karen Gillan) is spiralling into a reckless, drunken, mid-twenties crisis. Filling her days and nights with casual joyless sex, junk food and a belief in ‘the power of positive drinking’ she’s plagued by visions of her best friend Alistair (Matthew Beard) throwing himself from a bridge. With bittersweet memories of the time spent with her friend, Liusaidh struggles to connect with anyone until a chance encounter with a stranger from out of town (Lee Pace).
Tackling a range of mental health and gender issues with a jet-black streak of Scottish humour, Karen Gillan crafts a bold, challenging and finely observed comedy-drama in this must-see debut work.
The film is written and directed and stars Karen Gillan. Co-starring Lee Pace (The Hobbit series), Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game) and Paul Higgins (Victoria and Abdul).
Blue Finch Film Releasing presents The Party’s Just Beginning in cinemas 1 December and on demand 11 December. You might have to search this one out, best bet is your local independent cinema.
