Todd Phillips Joker: Folie À Deux the follow-up to 2019’s Academy Award-winning Joker, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have unveiled the film’s Digital and Home Entertainment release details.
The Joker earned more than $1 billion at the global box office. The film divided cinephiles, regardless if you enjoyed or loathed the sequel it did divide audiences even further.
The new film stars Joaquin Phoenix once again in his dual role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, opposite Lady Gaga (“A Star Is Born”). The film also stars Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Catherine Keener (Get Out, Capote), alongside Zazie Beetz, reprising her role from Joker.
Was the ‘hate’ all down to people’s high expectations, expecting something similar to the original? Because it was a more procedural drama with musical elements? Or people expecting something closer to the iconic Batman supervillain despite Todd Phillips stating during promotion of the original film that it was only set in the world and there is ‘many Jokers’.
The film was flawed however we did enjoy it better than many, with Josh Barton watching it for us. Describing the film “The singing and dancing may be quite a distraction for some, but it doesn’t stop the film from having something to say – unsubtle as it may be“.
