Joel McHale The Latest To Join The Cast Of “Scream 7”

Joel McHale, best known for his roles in Community and Animal Control has officially joined the cast of Scream 7. According to Deadline McHale will play ‘Mark Evans’ the husband of Neve Campbell’s iconic Sidney Prescott.Â
McHale joins the previously announced Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and Mason Gooding, who are returning as legacy characters Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Chad Meeks-Martin respectively. Jasmin Savoy Brown has also recently been confirmed to be returning as legacy character Mindy Meeks-Martin, Chad’s twin and the franchise’s first openly queer character. No plot details have been revealed for Scream 7 as of writing, although presumably, Sidney will once again face off with another iteration of the Ghostface killer. It has also not been revealed how the franchise will deal with the departure of Melissa Barrera or Jenna Ortega as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter.
McHale’s casting will come as a disappointment to some Scream fans. Prescott’s husband ‘Mark’ was first mentioned in offhand comments in franchise reboot Scream (2022) and its sequel Scream VI (2023). Some fans assumed that the Mark in question was Patrick Dempsey’s Detective Mark Kincaid who first appeared in Scream 3 and shared a connection with Prescott. But with McHale’s casting ‘Mark’ has been revealed to be a brand new character – Mark Evans.Â
Alongside McHale, Scream 7 will also feature the following newcomers to the franchise; Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp. May, best know for her work in the Yellowstone franchise, will be playing the daughter of Sidney Prescott, as confirmed by Variety. The sequel is being directed by original Scream scribe Kevin Williamson who previously wrote Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4, with the new film written by Guy Busick, who wrote the two previous installments in the franchise. Production is currently underway in Atlanta. Â
Scream 7 is set to hit theatres on 27 February 2026.
