Jennifer Hudson ‘Wants A Little Bit’ In Respect New Trailer

We all know James Brown was regarded as the ‘Godfather Of Soul’, Aretha Franklin is the ‘Queen Of Soul‘. During the small hours of the morning Universal Pictures released the Second UK Trailer for Respect. The long awaited biopic for Aretha Franklin all she ever wanted was just R-E-S-P-E-C-T, just a little bit.

Jennifer Hudson stars as Aretha and directed by Liesl Tommy in her directorial feature debut. Tommy made a career directing in television including  Mrs.Fletcher, Jessica Jones and The Walking Dead.

The film promises to chart the singer’s early days as a young girl singing in her father’s church choir, right through to her international stardom. She wrote and sung many of her classic songs through U.S’s turbulent civil rights era pf the 1960’s. A time when a African American’s rights were non existent, she continued pursuing her dream.

What perfect time to release this trailer , with USA (and the world) shrouded in racism and discrimination. Aretha Franklin was also a big advocate of civil rights movement. The film itself has been stuck in development hell for over 10 years for various reasons. Aretha had such a powerful voice on and off the stage and this trailer teases, Jennifer Hudson might just nail this one perfectly.
