The First Midnight Special Trailer Michael Shannon Goes On The Run
In every parents eye their child or children will always be special in the first UK trailer for Midnight Special Michael Shannon goes on the run with his son, he’s ‘extra special’. In the first moody teaser for Jeff Nichols latest mystery, intrigue are plenty as the director marks another potentially successful collaboration with Shannon.
From the onset of the trailer you can clearly see why Nicholls or any director like to keep their choice of actors a close-knit family. They know his style and he knows the actors capabilities.
Midnight Special synopsis is short but sweet we find Roy (Shannon) who discovers his son Alton (Jaeden Lieberher) is no ordinary son. He has special gifts, gifts that finds him under threat from religious cults and the law enforcement forcing Roy to go on the run to protect him. But what powers are they? Roy attempts to uncover the truth and a possible terrible threat may connect to his son too.
When I watched this trailer with the religion context and the talk, youtube videos, the recent terrorism and the belief of some folks (especially USA) think a greater being will be coming. It feels Midnight Special might just be connecting into this, but if those end of days many believed where to happen did occur, or operation bluebeam as some call it with a greater being happen society and our perspective of life might just be different.
This looks like it has plenty of twists and turns, it’s also refreshing to see a film take an alternative sci-fi approach too, rather than bombardied with comic book heroes or invading alien races. With that tease that Alton might be a ‘weapon’ gives things a extra slice of suspense , most of all curiousity to see this one.
Midnight Special is set for a 15th April 2016 UK release (18th March USA) co-starring Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Bill Camp, Scott Haze, Paul Sparks, and Sam Shepard.
