James Bond's Pussy Galore, Honor Blackman Dies Aged 94

She will always be known as former Bond Girl Pussy Galore, sadly today it was announced Honor Blackman has died aged 94.

The news was announced through a press release, released by her family – “It’s with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Honor Blackman aged 94. She died peacefully of natural causes at her home in Lewes, Sussex, surrounded by her family. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her two children Barnaby and Lottie, and grandchildren Daisy, Oscar, Olive and Toby“.

She was quintessential Bond Girl who made her franchise debut in 1964 in Goldfinger. She will also be remember for one other role as Cathy Gale in The Avengers. Not only was her character a style icon, but a groundbreaking one in a decade of gender inequality.

Honor also played in various other film roles including So Long At The Fair with Dirk Bogarde. Something Big with Dean Martin, and Greek Goddess Hera in Jason And The Argonauts. Her last cinematic appearance was in the Zombie oddball Cockneys Vs. Zombies in 2012.

There was a period of her career was spent on the theatre stage.Stage versions of big screen musicals The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and Cabaret. In recent times still in theatres in a one woman touring show celebrating her her rise to stardom and astonishing life.

Next being the ‘original avenger‘ Cathy Gale, her Small screen career varied. From Professor Lasky during Colin Baker’s reign as Doctor Who during the 1980’s. She did return to the franchise audio only in 2011 with The Children of Seth. She would go onto tipping her toe into comedy between 1990 until 1996 as Laura West in ITV sitcom The Upper Hand. 2004 there was guest appearance in Coronation Street and more recently BBC Casualty in 2013.
