It ‘Sucks To Be Him’ Watch First Trailer For Renfield!
Nicolas Cage is Dracula in horror comedy
When it has Nicolas Cage in it, we’re VERY interested. Universal Pictures have unearthed the first UK Trailer for Renfield and the Cagemeister is Dracula! It sucks to be him!
Anyone who knows the story of Bram Stoker’s iconic horror story, knows Renfield is his faithful minion. Klaus Kinski and Tom Waits have played the character in the past, now it’s Nicholas Hoult‘s turn.
Chris McKay directs this one and he directed The Lego Batman Movie with Rick & Morty writer Ryan Ridley onboard scripting. This will give you an idea the direction this film will be taking in humour. McKay has stated it won’t be a straight comedy, but something that has comedic elements. Whatever route they are taking, this looks campy fun and with Cage as our Vampire overlord, perfection!
Renfield is an idea created by The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman…
Evil doesn’t span eternity without a little help.
In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
Renfield is directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War, The LEGO Batman Movie) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (Ghosted series, Rick & Morty series), based on an original idea by The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman.
The film also stars Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez along with Shohreh Aghdashloo. Renfield will be in UK and Irish cinemas from April, exact date not announced by Universal Pictures just yet.
