Interview: Shawn Simmons on his explosive, thrilling directorial debut Eenie Meanie

In anticipation of Eenie Meanie, we sat down with director Shawn Simmons to delve into his directorial process, the thrills of his first feature film and more.

From 20^th Century Studios, the film is a high-octane thriller starring Samara Weaving, Karl Glusman, Jermaine Fowler, Marshawn Lynch, Randall Park, with Steve Zahn and Andy Garcia. Behind the ensemble cast is Simmons, making his directorial debut.

The film follows a former getaway driver who returns to her old life when tasked with saving the life of her ex-boyfriend. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick produced the film, having previously worked on blockbusters like Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) and Zombieland: Double Tap (2019).

The original film follows a former teenage getaway driver who is dragged back into her unsavoury past when a previous employer offers her the chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend. “Eenie Meanie” is written and directed by Shawn Simmons and stars Samara Weaving as the titular character Edie, also known as Eenie Meanie.
