Interview: Drag Queens Jujubee and Ginger Minj Discuss Starring in Stop! That! Train!
World of Wonderโs first-ever theatrically distributed film, Stop! That! Train! finally comes to U.K. cinemas on August 21st. The RuPaul-led disaster spoof can be best described as Airplane! with drag queens, and is an unapologetically stupid ride thatโll blow your wig off.ย
For WoWโs inaugural feature, RuPaul and director Adam Shankman have enlisted many beloved Drag Race alumni to play the central roles onboard the Glamazonian Express, including fan-favourites: Latrice Royale, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marcia Marcia Marcia and Symone.ย
The filmโs plot is centred around dowdy best friends Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) who have long dreamed of adventure and romance whilst working as trolley-dollies along the great American railway. But after the Glamazonian Express heads directly into the path of a Stormaganza threatening to end the lives of everyone onboard, itโs up to these two queens to figure out a way to, you know, stop that train.
The Peopleโs Movies got to speak with Ginger Minj and Jujubee about their starring roles in the big gay summer event of 2026.ย
Congratulations on being the first two leads in the first-ever theatrically distributed World of Wonder film. Youโre both excellent with improvisation and have both given iconic performances in the Snatch Game. Was there much freedom on set for you guys to improvise?
Jujubee: I’ll say this: the script was so good that we didn’t want to change anything. But there were moments of us improvising. There’s the fight scene between Tess and Deedee. And it wasn’t so much that we improvised, but we worked on it together and didn’t tell Adam Shankman what we were gonna do, and we begged him to just keep rolling. And once we showed him, he loved it. He knew that we were full of bits, so we were gonna bring it forth, and I’m glad that he kept that in.
Is there anything you think our readers might like to know about what filming was like? Any funny stories or surprising tea?
Jujubee: As far as tea, I don’t know what kind of tea there was because it was filmed in 19 days, so there was never any time for anything shady or anything weird to happen. We were just a really huge cast of really hardworking queens. We wanted to go fast because I didn’t want to upset Mama Ru because she’s a busy queen. She is a very busy lady, but I think my favourite days of filming were when Ru was on set because Ru also loves to laugh.
Ginger: I think my favourite days of filming were when Ru was on set because Ru just loves to laugh. It was sometimes hard to get through takes because I would say something that would make Jujubee laugh, which in turn would make RuPaul laugh. Or then Ru would react, and then Juju would laugh, and then I would laugh. Like it was just this circle of laughter. But it also was super daunting because it was 19 days, and Juju and I were there almost every single day.ย

The movie is packed with so many celebrity cameos. Was there anyone that you were particularly excited to have on board?
Jujubee: There was nobody that I wasnโt excited to have.
Ginger: I was super happy to be with Rachel Bloom, who I absolutely love. I loved Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I have seen her on tour. I just think she’s a brilliant mind and a wonderful performer. So I was a little excited and scared to work directly opposite her. Iโm genuinely surprised Jennifer Coolidge was not in it. They could have panned to her, and she said, “These gays are trying to kill meโ. She could be in the sequel; Start! That! Train!
Speaking of sequels, or as Ru would say โShequelsโ, is a second movie on the cards? And who from the Drag Race alumni would you like to see tapped for one of these movies?
Ginger: Well, I definitely think that these deserve sequels because I would like Juju and me to come back to see what happens with their relationship, and I feel like this film ends on such an interesting note, where it’s like, oh, I kind of want to know what happens next.
Jujubee: I mean, she’s already in this film, but I need more Latrice Royale. I think the world needs more Latrice. She is just so magnetic and so funny, and I also think we need more Charo. I didn’t think we got enough of Charo, so we need more of that. But I would love to see Nicole Page Brooks in a film.ย
Ginger: I was just about to say that Nicole Page Brooks, and I also really love Lazy Susan, winner of Drag Race Down and Under. I adore her so much, and I think she’s so funny. I would love to see her mixed up in the craziness of that world.ย
Jujubee: You know who else would be great in this universe too is Kitty Scott-Claus. She would be great.
Ginger: In order to get a sequel, we need everybody to go and support this film. So if you want to see more queer joy, like mainstream, on the big screen for everybody to enjoy, take your friends, get out there and laugh together.ย
Stop! That! Train! is in UK cinemas on August 21st, with previews on August 20th.
