In Netflix’s Project Power Jamie Foxx Unlocks His ‘Superpowers’

In the matrix you offered a blue or red pill to change your outcome. What if you were offered a pill that would give you superpowers for 5 minutes , would you take it? That is the question Jamie Foxx has to answer in the Trailer for Project Power.

As they say sometimes you never know power until you try it and Foxx tries it in this upcoming Netflix Original film. Starring along side Joesph Gordon-Levitt who plays a cop the pair take on an mysterious drug thats found it’s way onto the streets of New Orleans. That pill unlocks a superpower which superpower you don’t know until you take it. When some people use it for criminal purposes a former soldier (Foxx) , cop and local dealer (Dominique Fishback) take on those who created the drug.

The film was created by Nerve/Paranormal Activity/Catfish duo Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman. The idea is intriguing, taking a well used premise and twisting a little to give it a fun twist. It does have that Summer blockbuster vibe but I have one concern.

A lot of people don’t realise this film has been gathering dust since 2018. Reasons unknown why, long delayed films when eventually released haven’t always done well. Here’s hoping this one is in the minority like A Cabin In The Woods and becomes an unexpected hit.

On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.

The cast also includes Rodrigo Santoro, Colson Baker, Allen Maldonado, Amy Landecker, and Courtney B. Vance.

Project Power will unleash it’s power on Netflix from 14th August.
