Most of us in Lockdown will probably do very little whilst our minds are bursting of ideas, Sam Levinson had those ideas. Next month Malcolm & Marie will arrive on Netflix and today we can enjoy the film’s official Trailer.

The film was recorded during lockdown with Zendaya and John David Washington the films only stars. The pair recorded the film whilst in quarantine, the pair electrify as the show off their dramatic chops.

Described not a love story, but a story of love. Washington plays a filmmaker returning home with his girlfriend from a successful movie premiere. As he awaits the hopeful critical success, things start to unravel for the couple. Revelations surface that test their relationship how long can their love last?

Levinson’s last film was Assassination Nation, was a divisive film I rather enjoyed others didn’t. Behind the gorgeous black & photography, you could say is his little dig at film criticism. The director’s relationship with journalists is not the strongest which might leave some writers apprehensive. We’re just looking forward to seeing this!

Writer/Director Sam Levinson teams up with Zendaya and John David Washington for an achingly romantic drama in which a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what’s sure to be imminent critical and financial success. The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.

Working with cinematographer Marcell Rev, Levinson creates a film of rare originality; an ode to the great Hollywood romances as well as a heartfelt expression of faith in the medium’s future.

Malcolm & Marie will launch on Netflix globally from 5th February 2021.
