In First The Girl In The Spider’s Web Trailer, Lisbeth’s Past Hunts Her

Are you ready to ‘discover what made her the girl’? It’s been a long time coming and today Sony Pictures reveal the first International (UK) Teaser for The Girl In The Spider’s Web.
Seven years ago David Fincher directed the highly underrated The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Rooney Mara was our damaged anti-hero Lisbeth Salander with Daniel Craig as disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Many critics believed the English language film came too soon after the original Swedish version. When the dust settled for years we went through gossip about what was coming next and last year things became official.
Out of the blue The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest was replaced by new material. The Girl With The Spider’s Web written by David Lagercrantz, the first book written post-Steig Larsson’s death. Don’t Breathe‘s Fede Alvarez becomes the director with The Crown‘s Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander with Sverrir Gudnason as Blomkvist.
In the first trailer, we get our first look at Foy’s Lisbeth and learn that someone from her past is now hunting her. Is she The Batman? This is a completely different Salander, each actress has put their own stamp on the character. Visually grim as we expect, as for how good, it’s a cautious approach, I’m liking what I’m seeing…
Lisbeth Salander, the cult figure and title character of the acclaimed Millennium book series created by Stieg Larsson, will return to the screen in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, a first-time adaptation of the recent global bestseller. Golden Globe winner Claire Foy, the star of “The Crown,” will play the outcast vigilante defender under the direction of Fede Alvarez, the director of 2016’s breakout thriller Don’t Breathe; the screenplay adaptation is by Steven Knight and Fede Alvarez & Jay Basu.
Sony Pictures USA released a slightly longer version which you can watch it here.
The film will also star Lakeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, Stephen Merchant, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund, and Vicky Krieps.
The Girl In The Spider’s Web will be released in the UK, Ireland and the USA on November 21st.
