In Firestarter UK Trailer ‘Something Feels Weird’

Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Charlie in Firestarter, directed by Keith Thomas.
Something feels weird as Universal Pictures unleash the first UK Trailer for horror remake Firestarter.
Horrorphiles will know this film is a remake of the John Carpenter horror of the same based on the classic Stephen King Novel. The story of a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers fights to protect her family and herself from sinister forces that seek to capture and control her.
Zac Efron, Sydney Lemmon(grand daughter of of Jack) play the parents of Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). Like any remake the film will dissected with a fine-comb, is it any better? Does it actually deserve a remake? I’ll have to admit I was never a fan of the original which makes it hard for myself to be judgemental. The trailer does show some of Charlie’s trigger points, despite being a Blumhouse production it looks okay.
For more than a decade, parents Andy (Zac Efron; Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile; The Greatest Showman) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon; Fear the Walking Dead, Succession) have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong; American Horror Story: Double Feature, The Tomorrow War) from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction.
Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family’s location, a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes; Wild Indian, Rutherford Falls) is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.
The film also stars Michael Greyeyes, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, plus Gloria Reuben. Firestarter will be released in UK and Irish cinemas, release date at the moment is ‘coming soon’. If you live in the U.S the film ill be released in cinemas and on Peacock from 13th May.
