We’ve seen a few images posted online from various source for Gary Ross THE HUNGER GAMES in the past few weeks and today Lionsgate have sent us the first official images which you can check out below. There is 4 images 2 are images we’ve seen before but are now in higher definition and above those 2 images we have the new one of Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson , its all early days but if the buzz for this film is anything to go by when the announcement was made to create this, we have an fantastic movie to look forward too!
In further news Variety are already reporting the sequel to THE HUNGER GAMES release date has already been confirmed, Catching Fire (the movies name) will be released on November 22nd, 2013! Lionsgate have followed the same footsteps of Sony with The Amazing Spiderman announcing that its sequel will be out May 2nd, 2014. We’ve seen this with studio’s announcing sequels before the previous movie has been released like with Sherlock Holmes, though The Hunger Games announcement isn’t as risky as the move as Guy Ritchie’s flick as sequels were revealed when the we knew The Hunger Games was to be adapted for the big screen, with Sherlock Holmes they took the chance that the first movie was going to be a success luckily for them it was.
Lionsgate’s CEO Joe Drake made this statement:
“The magical thing about the The Hunger Games trilogy is that the books have such a vastly broad appeal,” he burbles. “The stories truly offer something for everyone, and the period around the Thanksgiving weekend is an opportunity for families and friends to make an event of going to the movies.”
There is no word if Gary Ross will continue as director, it’ assuming this movie may start filming around the time the first movie (which is about to wrap very shortly) to be released cinematically? The Hunger Games is a little bit like Twilight Saga in the terms it has a loyal fanbase so no matter how well the first movie performs at the box office there will be enough support to see this trilogy make it to the big screen, though so does Millennium Trilogy but Sony are taking the cautious approach by seeing how the first film goes before commiting to the next 2 flicks.
THE HUNGER GAMES which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland and Woody Harrelson with Gary Ross directing . The movie is based on the popular teen novels by Suzanne Collins and the film is due out March 23rd 2012.
