Tonight I’m heading off to a charity football match (or soccer to our American friends)in Glasgow, ย a game of legends from Celtic and Manchester Utd plus a few hollywood celebs. One of the Hollywood celebs will be dawning the famous Hoops tonight to play for his boyhood heros plus he is also a fellow Paisley man Gerard Butler, whose next movie could see him ‘laying bricks’.

The Scottish actor according toย ย THRย will be taking lead role for Millennium Films in THE BRICKLAYER a movie to be based on Noah Boyd’s book of the same name, which will the actor play retired FBI Agent who is a Bricklayer in Chicago and is called back into duty after criminals gangsย “demanding an escalating series of multi-million dollar ransom payments.” ย Hanna Weg will write the script with Butler producing the flick withย Alan Siegel and Danielle Robinson.

Here is theย Amazonย synopsis:

The pseudonymous Boyd, a former FBI agent, fails to bring much convincing insider information to his debut, a routine thriller. FBI deputy assistant director Kate Bannon tracks down Steve Vail, a maverick FBI agent who left the bureau for a new life as a Chicago bricklayer, because she needs Vailโ€™s help in apprehending a criminal gang, the Rubaco Pentad, with a grudge against the FBI. The Pentad follows up the murder of L.A. reporter Connie Lysander, who wrote a story critical of the FBI, with ever-increasing demands for money from the bureau to forestall future killings and the setting of sophisticated death traps. When an agent disappears while making a payoff to the gang, he becomes a prime suspect, despite Vailโ€™s reservations. Predictable plot elements include the heroโ€™s incredible escapes from peril and the growing romantic bond between the laconic Vail and the attractive Bannon. The identity of the person behind the Pentad will surprise few.
