Hunter Schafer as Cora

Amazon has dropped the first trailer for the Prime Video science-fiction limited series Blade Runner 2099.

The show stars Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh in the first live-action TV show instalment of the Blade Runner saga. It takes place โ€œFifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, Los Angeles has been reborn, just not by humanity. Cora (Schafer), a fugitive in a final bid to stop running, takes on one last identity: a Blade Runner. Forced to partner with Olwen (Yeoh), a Replicant days from dying, she hunts down a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse their fragile city.โ€

The show, which will intentionally only run for one season, is being hailed by the showrunner Silka Luisa, whose other projects include the Apple TV series Shining Girls, as well as the live-action Halo show. She will also act as co-writer and executive producer for this science-fiction tale.
