There’s no doubt about it, Idris Elba is a man of many talents. From actor to director and in his latest project, Turn Up Charlie he’s a washed up, struggling DJ.
The show follows a down-and-out DJ (Elba) who plots to rebuild his music career whilst working as a nanny for his famous best friend’s wild 11 year old daughter in this Netflix Original Comedy Series.
Ahead of the drama series premiere later this month, Netflix has released the official Trailer. A man who has been there, done that and now struggling to find his place again. Turn Up Charlie centres on the titular Charlie (Idris Elba), a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a ‘manny’ to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter, Gabby (Frankie Hervey). Piper Perabo and JJ Feild co-star. Elba and Gary Reich co-created Turn Up Charlie and will serve as executive producers along with Tristram Shapeero. Shapeero will also direct the series with Matt Lipsey. Martin Joyce and Ana Garanito are co-executive producers. The series is co-produced by Reich’s Brown Eyed Boy Productions and Elba’s Green Door Pictures.
The series also stars Angela Griffin, Guz Khan, Jocelyn Jee Esein, Jade Anouka, Cameron King and Dustin Demri-Burns round out the cast as recurring guest stars.
