Deadline has just revealed that Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham (from Ted Lasso) has been announced to star opposite Jason Statham in new action-comedy from David Leitch. Filming since June in the UK and Malta, Jason Statham Stole My Bike has now received its latest casting announcement since Deadlineโ€™s first report of the film back in February.ย

Waddinghamโ€™s casting will reunite the actress with director Leitch after their previous work together on The Fall Guy back in 2023. Statham, on the other hand, reunites with Leitch after they worked on Universalโ€™s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, a box office hit.ย

No plot details have been revealed yet. Though, it has been said that the film will see Statham โ€œin the role of a lifetime, playing global action superstar Jason Statham.โ€ A big budget film, said to include numerous action set pieces and is in talks of being conceived as a PG-13 (12A in UK).ย

Along with Black Bear, Leitchโ€™s 87North banner are both behind the film. With Black Bear having set the North American release date to August 6, 2027. Based on a story by Alison Flierl and Scott Chernoff, Flierl has written the screenplay for the film. Alongside Statham, for Punch Palace Productions, Kelly McCormick and Leitch will produce the film as well. Black Bear has John Friedberg and Beryllium Entertainment will have Meredith Berg and Ethan Erwin for producers as well. Along with these producers, Fifth Season and Tango are executive-producing the film.

From her work on Apple TVโ€™s Ted Lasso, Waddingham earned an Emmy, an Actor Award, two Critics Choice Awards, and two Golden Globe nominations for her work. Leading up to this upcoming project, she can currently be seen in Amazon Primeโ€™s new series Ride or Die โ€” which she executive-produced with co-star Octavia Spencer. Her work on Londonโ€™s West End has also earned her three Olivier nominations too.

Jason Statham Stole My Bike will mark their latest collaboration with Statham after their recently wrap of production for Guy Ritchieโ€™s Viva La Madness.ย
