Step into Hammer Films 'Crime Files'

A well suited man sits down with a gun in 36 hours

Legendary British horror studio Hammer Films has unveiled its latest physical media releases, continuing the company’s push into premium 4K restorations and collector-focused editions.

Here’s a look at the two major Hammer Films physical media releases arriving soon.

36 Hours – 4K UHD & Blu-ray (8th June Release)

An overlooked entry in the Hammer library, 36 Hours is finally arriving on physical media for the first time anywhere in the world.

Directed by Montgomery Tully, the film is an early example of Brit-noir, blending crime drama and suspense in a tightly wound thriller typical of Hammer’s early 1950s output.

While Hammer would later become synonymous with gothic horror, the studio produced a wide range of crime thrillers and noir-inspired stories during this period, and 36 Hours stands as one of the more intriguing rediscoveries from that era.

The new release arrives on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, presenting the film with a fresh restoration and giving collectors the chance to experience this rarely seen Hammer title in high definition for the first time.

Mantrap – 4K Restoration (13 April Release)

Another crime thriller from Hammer’s early catalogue is also getting the restoration treatment.

Mantrap, directed by Hammer regular Terence Fisher, is arriving on home entertainment in a new 4K restoration.

Fisher would later become one of Hammer’s most influential filmmakers, directing many of the studio’s most famous horror films. But Mantrap comes from an earlier phase of his career, when Hammer was experimenting with hard-edged crime stories and noir-influenced thrillers.

This brings renewed restoration to one of the studio’s lesser-known titles, offering collectors another look at Hammer’s pre-horror era output.

Hammer’s 4K Collector Editions Continue to Grow

With 4K restorations and collector-focused releases, Hammer continues to revisit its archives and present classic titles in the best possible quality.

For fans of classic British cinema, noir thrillers and vintage horror, the latest wave of releases shows the studio expanding beyond its gothic reputation and shining a light on lesser-known corners of the Hammer catalogue.

More Hammer Films 4K Limited Collector Editions and Hammer Presents titles are expected to be announced in the months ahead as the studio continues its ongoing restoration programme.
