Hailee Steinfeld Addresses “Champions” Rumour: “Anyone Can Just Update IMDb Now?”
As actress Hailee Steinfeld continues working on projects in the Marvel multiverse, one recent rumour has her completely stumped.
Steinfeld, who already juggles the roles of Kate Bishop (from the live-action Hawkeye series and animated Marvel Zombies) and fan-favourite Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse movies, addressed a circulating rumour about a Young Avengers project.
An IMDb listing recently popped up suggesting a Marvel project titled Champions was in development.
“I saw that!” she told Variety when asked about it. “You’re telling me anyone can just update IMDb now? Because part of me was like, ‘Is this someone random just throwing stuff out? Or someone who knows something?”
While she may not know anything about the project, Hailee Steinfeld made it clear she’s eager for whatever Marvel throws her way.
She added, “As for Marvel, I’m always waiting by the phone. I love that family. I’m so grateful to be a part of it. Anytime they need me, they know where to find me.”
This aligns with ongoing speculation that Kate Bishop is slated to appear in an upcoming Avengers film. There was also plenty of rumours that she, along with many of the Young Avengers and other MCU characters, would appear in some capacity in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but no other announcements since the “chair” reveals earlier this year have been confirmed.
In the meantime, Steinfeld is busy as Gwen Stacy in the third animated film, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse.
She spoke on the constantly evolving nature of voice acting, saying: “I wonder sometimes if anything ever gets scrapped, because I’ve said the word ‘Miles’ in so many different ways and tones — they probably have a whole library. But the process is constantly changing. You never get the full script at the top. It evolves. And that makes it so crazy and fun to be a part of.”
