Green Book UK Trailer Starring Viggo Mortenson And Mahershala Ali Inspires Friendship

Everyone loves a good true heartwarming story? Of course, we do and you’ll probably enjoy Green Book starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali. A true story of a 2 month journey of a working-class Italian American who became the chauffeur to a renowned classical pianist. On paper that looks like nothing special, however, this was 1960’s USA and the pianist just happened to be an African American.

If I was to further say, this one has been directed by Peter Farrelly, one half of the Farrelly Brothers. The pair who made a name their name directing gross-out comedies in the 1990’s such as Dumb And Dumber also Something About Mary. It will be interesting to see how Peter handles civil rights based story which will tackle racism.

Mortensen is fantastic as ever and as a chauffeur/bouncer he’s no stranger to. Be interesting to see how his chemistry with Ali goes, both are great acting talents. The early word seems to be very good, could we a Farrelly brother in contention for an Oscar?

If you’re wondering where the name ‘Green Book’ comes from. It’s the name of the guidebook used by African American travellers travel through areas of segregation safely.

The film is set to have it’s World Premiere at next month’s Toronto Film Festival and today Entertainment One has launched the UK Trailer.

Set in America in 1962, Green Book tells the heart-warming true story of Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), a working-class Italian-American bouncer who takes on a job as a chauffeur for Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a highly-educated African-American classical pianist. The mismatched pair embark on a two-month tour of concert venues in the racially charged deep south and discover they’re on the road to a meaningful and unique friendship.

The film will also star Linda Cardellini, Sebastian Maniscalco, and P.J. Byrne.

Green Book doesn’t have the exact UK and Irish cinema release date confirmed just yet. The U.S date seems to be 21st November don’t be surprised if this has a similar release date or potentially early 2019. Don’t be surprised if the European Premiere will be at the London Film Festival in October.
