living is expensive and when you have a government who cares about the wealthy things are getting worse for the rest of us. When we get older it’s meant to be our ‘golden years’ but for Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin in Going In Style there taking drastic measures. Robbing a bank!
Warner Bros. Pictures have shipped us over the movies first UK Trailer we see senior leads pensions fall victim to Company greed…Pensions cut.
Oscar winners Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”), Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and Alan Arkin (“Little Miss Sunshine”) team up as lifelong buddies Willie, Joe and Al, who decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty, in director Zach Braff’s comedy “Going in Style.”
Desperate to pay the bills and come through for their loved ones, the three risk it all by embarking on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money.
Ann-Margret (“Tommy,” “Carnal Knowledge”) as Annie, a grocery cashier who’s been checking Al out in more ways than one. Joey King (“Wish I Was Here”) stars as Joe’s whip-smart granddaughter, Brooklyn; with Oscar nominee Matt Dillon (“Crash”) as FBI Agent Hamer; and Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future” trilogy) as the guys’ lodge buddy, Milton. John Ortiz (“Silver Linings Playbook”) also stars as Jesus, a man of unspecified credentials who agrees to show the guys the ropes, and Peter Serafinowicz.
It’s really hard to say anything about this one apart from ‘we’ve seen this all before’ literally we have as this is a remake of 1979 movie of the same name. That movie starred George Burns, Lee Strasberg, and Art Carney in the lead roles, but there differences to the 2017 version. The original was all for cheap thrills but now it’s pensioners struggling on government pensions unable to make ends meets, sound familiar? This also plays on the notion of our senior actors getting into trouble, that sort of trouble younger actors usually get into. Heist comedy caper with social commentary and our protagonists may be ageing there doing it gracefully and name that can still put bums on seats.
Going In Style is set to arrive in UK&Irish cinemas from 7th April 2017.
