Go Power Rangers Go! Those multi-coloured spandex wearing teen superheroes The Power Rangers are heading back to our big screens as Lionsgate Films announce a new film is in the works.
In a joint venture with Saban and from the Press release sent to us it’s sound like a new reboot is on the cards and when it also says “re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” supports that idea. With the kids that turn into dinosaur themed heroes protecting us from evil aliens you can wonder if Michael Bay’s next Transformers film anything to with it .With a foot in everything from DVDs, TV shows, toys, apparel, costumes, video games Power Rangers in the same markets as Transformers it’s of no surprise with the news.
Haim Saban the Power Rangers creator said “Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent. In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.”
Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer commented “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Haim Saban and his team to maximize the potential of this immensely successful and universally recognized franchise,The Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they are more powerful than ever. We have the ideal partner and the perfect brand with which to create a motion picture event that will resonate with moviegoers around the world for years to come.”
Last year The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers celebrated there 20th anniversary and what better way to get the interest in the show again. Lionsgate have had a fairly good record with franchises and there’s nothing to say this new one won’t be a success, one thing we cn probably agree on, whoever they get to play the cast it should be better than the last film.
