First Look At Historical Comedic Drama The Decameron

The Decameron coming to Netflix in July

Netflix have released First Look images for upcoming historical comedic drama, The Decameron.

The eight episode season is set for launch in July and the streaming giants describe the series as a ‘soapy period drama’ that promises to examine class system. Despite The Decameron set in 1348, it will cover many contemporary themes and we see those elites ‘partying’ during the Black Death pandemic. Does it sound familiar?

The Decameron is a soapy period dramedy that aims to examine the timely themes of class systems, power struggles, and survival in a time of pandemic, brought to life by an ensemble of characters both ridiculous and ill-fated. Set in 1348, the Black Death strikes hard in the city of Florence. A handful of nobles are invited to retreat with their servants to a grand villa in the Italian countryside and wait out the pestilence with a lavish holiday. But as social rules wear thin, what starts as a wine-soaked sex romp in the hills of Tuscany descends into an all out scramble for survival.

Season 1 of The Decameron will launch globally on Netflix in July. The first season stars Amar Chadha-Patel, Leila Farzad, Lou Gala, Karan Gill, Tony Hale, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Zosia Mamet, Douggie McMeekin, Jessica Plummer, Tanya Reynolds.
