First Barbie Trailer Arrives And It’s Surprisingly Good!

Warner Bros have unleashed the official first (teaser) UK Trailer for Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie. Guess what it’s surprisingly good!
When talk hit the internet that there was going to be a film on the iconic toy doll, it was greeted with humour and derision. That was extended a little when the first images got released showing off Margot Robbie as our titular character and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Now we have that first look at the footage and it’s took us all by surprise, not what we where expecting.
The idea of the doll that was introduced to the world in 1959 was heading to the big screen, isn’t a new idea. Back in 2015 Diablo Cody (Juno) was set to direct, only for the director baton past to Amy Schumer a year later. The actress was going to direct as well as star, once again quickly disappeared like Harry Kane taking a penalty.
Noah Baumbach has co-written the script with Gerwig, gives the trailer it’s surreal tone. You don’t expect a riff that Stanley Kubrick would play on, possibly giving the film a slice of reality. Don’t fret this looks will have some absurd humour, with a 1950’s vintage look. If it’s pink you want, pink you will get!
Expect the unexpected with this film. This trailer doesn’t reveal much, what it has done has opened our eyes to a potential Summer 2023 hit!
At this stage there is no official synopsis for the film. After watching the above trailer I don’t think anyone will really care.
The rest of the cast for this one includes Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Will Ferrell, Alexandra Shipp, Connor Swindells, Michael Cera. Issa Rae, Sharon Rooney, Hari Nef, Marisa Abela and Kingsley Ben-Adir.
Barbie will be released in UK and Irish cinemas 21st July 2023.
