Finding yourself cannot be easy like in The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford. This stars Scottish actor Peter Mullan and Mubi have dropped the UK Trailer and he’s finding it hard to find his place.

This Scottish comedy is directed by Sean Dunn (Kingdom Come) and made it’s world premiere at Rotterdam this year. It did make it’s UK premiere at Glasgow Film Festivalย  which was a big favourite with cinephiles at the festival.

Despite it’s humour, it’s also a quirky dark film with the exploration of grief, identity and cultural legacy.ย  The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford, is set in rural Scotland Mullan is a tour guide. He tours his small town dressed like Sir Douglas Wetherford which he claims is an ancestor. When the town becomes a set for a big budget tv show Kenneth’s world gets turned upside down.

The film also stars Gayle Rankin, Jakob Oftebro, Sid Sagar, and Lewis MacDougall.

Synopsis | The film follows Kenneth McKay (Mullan), a recent widower and enthusiastic tour guide at a dusty visitor center in the small town of Arberloch, dedicated to his alleged ancestor and notable Enlightenment figure Sir Douglas Weatherford. When Arberloch becomes a shooting location for a successful fantasy TV show and Sir Douglasโ€™ local renown is threatened by the pop culture phenomenon, Kennethโ€™s world gets turned upside down and he takes it upon himself to preserve his legacy at any cost.

Anchored by a nuanced, standout performance by Peter Mullan, THE FALL OF SIR DOUGLAS WEATHERFORD is the story of a man struggling to find his place in the contemporary world; exploring themes of identity and loss through a tender, eccentric, and quintessentially British lens.

The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 12th June.
