It’s been a long road for Martin Scorsese, but in 5 weeks time, that road will be over as his passion project Silence will arrive in UK&Irish cinemas. It’s taken nearly 28 years to bring to the big screen a movie steeped in mystery, bypassing festivals but could that be down to the power of the director?
He is one of the most respected filmmakers, purveyor of film and when he releases a new movie they are special. Today Paramount have released the first trailer for Silence, it’s truly epic. A movie that will challenge your morals, beliefs as Christianity is attempted to be introduced in hostile foreign lands, check out trailer…
2 years to make , even more, to become reality now we can start 2017 in the company of a master of cinema. In the first promo, we get our first look at the movie and an insight into the epic scale as well as the heavy themes the movie will have. Religion is no laughing matter but pardons the punt we have ‘faith’ this will be a behemoth of a movie. Showing  practising  a religion at one time  even preaching it could cost you your life.
Martin Scorsese’s Silence tells the story of two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who face the ultimate test of faith when they travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson) – at a time when Christianity was outlawed and their presence was forbidden. The celebrated director’s 28-year journey to bring Shusaku Endo’s 1966 acclaimed novel to life.
Thanks to the likes of The Departed, Shutter Island, Hugo even The Wolf Of Wall Street, Scorsese has had a streak of continuing success he’s not had in a long time. The tone and scale of this movie won’t be similar to those movies more towards the Last Temptation of Christ, even Kundun. This movie is loosely based on Masahiro Shinoda 1971 movie  of the same name, a movie that’s fascinated Scorsese and now inspired  his own version.
Silence is set for a 1st January 2017 UK&Irish cinematic release (USA 23rd December Limited, then full 2017).
