Australian coming of age dramedy H Is For Happiness which delighted audiences in it’s homeland is coming to the UK next month. Sparky Pictures today have released the official UK Trailer that promises to make you and your family ‘feel good’.
Adapted from Barry Jonsbergโs award-winning young-adult novel โMy Life as an Alphabetโ,the film is described as ‘a rainbow-coloured, vivacious, feel-good film’. Daisy Axon stars as our optimistic protagonist Candice McPhee, a smart girl bursting with ideas at school. But at home things are completely different, there unhappy, step forward a strange young new boy at school who determined to mend those brakes.
Set in a small Australian coastal town, 12-year-old Candice Phee (Daisy Axon) is a smart schoolgirl with boundless optimism and a unique view of the world. Sheโs a fountain of offbeat information and bright ideas but her frequently raised hand elicits derision from her classmates and plenty of eye-rolling from her teacher Miss Bamford (Miriam Margolyes).
Her perpetually cheery nature belies Candiceโs unhappy home life and lack of friends. Bereavement, financial struggles and estrangement from her โRich Uncle Brianโ (Joel Jackson) have cast a shadow over her parents (Emma Booth and Richard Roxburgh). Inspired by the strange new boy at school, โDouglas Benson From Another Dimensionโ (Wesley Patten), Candice sets out to do whatever it takes to mend her broken family.
With its whimsical design, witty direction and delightful performances from the young leads, H IS FOR HAPPINESS is a bright, entertaining and playful film which contains within a refreshingly direct take on family problems, friendship and acceptance of difference.
The cast also includes Richard Roxburgh, Emma Booth, Joel Jackson, Miriam Margoyles and Deborah Mailman.
H Is For Happiness is released to download/stream from 29th Marchย in the UKย and Ireland.
