Everything Is A Lie In New Captive State UK Trailer

Everything is a lie! In the first Trailer for Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State, they wanted us to thank our Alien Invaders. Now we have a second UK Trailer everything is starting to be exposed slowly as the truth filters out.

Wyatt returns to sci-fi (he directed 2011 Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes), so he is no stranger to the genre. We do love the mystery behind the invaders and their true intentions, this reminds us of Arrival. This trailer does tease other film inspirations like Cloverfield as well as District 9.

Keeping the aliens a mystery also suggests this film is still very grounded. Could the core commentary of this film all based on race and violence in the U.S? This also brings in The Purge influence. But what will happen when “the Phoenix will rise.”?

There may not be a lot of originality flowing throw the film, then again very few films do possess originality. Nowadays it’s all about the delivery and done right we may just have a great sci-fi political thriller on the cards.

Oh don’t blink at the end of the trailer, there is a glimpse of an alien creature, the invaders?

From the director of Rise of the Planet of the Apes comes a smart sci-fi thriller in the vein of District 9 and Arrival. Set in a Chicago neighbourhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, and starring John Goodman and Academy Award-nominee Vera Farmiga.

The film stars John Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Machine Gun Kelly, Jonathan Majors, and Colson Baker.

Captive State still doesn’t have the confirmed UK and Irish release date yet. It’s still saying ‘2019’ with the U.S release date of 29th March 2019. Don’t be surprised if we get the same release date or one week or two after it.
