Every film trailer from this year’s Superbowl

Banana Minions and Monsters

It may be an event originally based around watching and celebrating America’s golden sport: American football, but over the years, the annual league championship  NFL game, the Superbowl, has developed to spotlight anticipation for its musical performances and trailers.

This year’s Super Bowl, featuring a game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks and additional musical performances by Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, also featured Big Game Spots for upcoming, awaited film and media releases.

Super Bowl audiences oversaw trailers from the horror, sci-fi, and children’s animation genres as well as adaptations of comic books, novels and video games. Some teased sequels, while others dropped as original stories.

Minions and Monsters

As the seventh entry in Illumination’s Despicable Me franchise (which began in 2010), Minions and Monsters is set to be released as the third film in the spin-off Minions trilogy. The monster-comedy animation was written and directed by Pierre Coffin, who wrote the first four Despicable Me films, with Brian Lynch being credited as a co-writer. The plot is set to focus on the Minions, the little yellow species who have historically existed as servants to evil masterminds, with three of them “going to Hollywood to pursue their dreams of becoming filmmakers, but they discover a spellbook, and accidentally summon a monster”. It will stand as a prequel to 2015’s Minions, 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, and 2010’s Despicable Me.

Minions and Monsters will be released on 1st July.

Supergirl

DC Comics has undeniably struggled and staggered in its attempts to cement a finalised and cherished cinematic universe based on its iconic characters and narratives, especially compared to a certain rival comic book company whose teamed up with one of the world’s largest and most powerful corporations. However, 2025’s Superman, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, saw mass applause and set a new standard for the media franchise. This has led to anticipation around the next release in the next DC universe Supergirl, which is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. This film, part of DC’s planned God and Monsters Chapter, centres on Zor-El celebrating her 23rd birthday with her beloved dog Krypto.
